Papago! R5800
As more and more cell phones and smartphones offers GPS, GPS devices must had to be clever beautify themselves. That's what made Papago!, Ä Taiwanese company, released Ä R5800. The main function of this device is GPS, but have extra facilities such as a card reader for SD Card. The goal? If SD card is filled photos, music or video, GPS can also be a multimedia player.
Frankly, we never expect a GPS can be multifunctional, such as this, especially considering that the car is usually already available audio devices, and (sometimes) video. But when we try, the result is spelled out fairly. The screen size of 5 inches and 480x272 pixel resolution display is good enough movie, although we expect a wider viewing angles in order to keep a good image when viewed from the side.
The screen itself is touch screen that requires no stylus. To access the menu, we just press with your finger. The screen itself is responsive, although several times we experienced a push of the fingers that are not listed. All menus are presented in the Indonesian language, so it is easy to understand. Maps that are included are very complete because it is supported by a community navigasi.net. We note there are maps for 33 provinces in Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua. For small towns, addresses available is limited. But for large cities, especially in Java, spelled complete data available. In addition, the map also includes the POI (Point of Interest) including banks, shopping centers, to retail outlets.
But so complete, address lookup requires several stages. For example to enter the address look up in Jakarta, it takes four buttons to get into the Keyword menu from the main page. In our view, the main page should have been there so we only search field type in the address that we are headed.
Fortunately, Papago has a smart approach in the process of writing the keywords. When we pressed the sequence of letters, the board lit keyboard letters existing only correlations; the rest off. Examples like this. When we press the P button, some buttons are still lit. But when we next pressing the letter B (so in a column written PB), only the S button is lit. This means that in the GPS database there is only one address containing the PBS sequence, namely Peace PBSI (an area in East Jakarta). This mode makes the process of typing quickly and effectively was signaled when we enter the wrong keyword. If an address is often we visit, we were able to enter the address to the Favorites column so we only squeeze the menu twice to get the route to that address.
We tried this device with a drive from Pondok Cabe area to area Kebon Jeruk (approximately 20 km). First lit, this device takes about 10 seconds to find the initial position, and less than a minute to find a route to the destination address. By default, the display provides two-dimensional type, but we can choose to display three-dimensional (Junction View). In order not bother glancing at the screen, Papago! R5800 has a female voice that speaks the navigation in the Indonesian language.
The follow up gone smoothly, though some seem not quite fit the way the election. For example in the tunnel ahead of Pondok Indah Mall, Papago! R5800 led us stay in left lane. In fact, it should go into the tunnel. But outside of that minor faults, this GPS works well.

Though can be a multimedia player, we think the biggest attraction Papago! R5800 is in the Indonesian-language menu and complete map database. The price is around Rp.3 millions also spelled competitive in its class. Even if there are to be repaired is a touch-screen menus and more intuitive.
